Alstom Ecotècnia

Alstom Wind [1] formerly known until 4/2010 as Alstom Ecotècnia, is a wind turbine manufacturer with headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. On the 25th of June 2007, Alstom acquired the Spanish company Ecotécnia for 350 million euro and entered the wind turbine industry.[2]

Ecotécnia was established in 1981, becoming an international manufacturer operating wind turbines primarily in Spain, France, Italy, and Portugal. When Alstom acquired Ecotécnia, it had 765 employees, and an installed base of 1500 wind turbines in 72 wind farms (total capacity of 1,433 MW). The range of wind turbines was from 640 kW to 3 MW.

Alstom Wind has, two wind turbine series in production: the ECO 80 and ECO 100 series.[3] Both series use a three bladed rotor fitted to an electrical generator via a gearbox, and the nacelle is mounted on a steel tower.
